– Hidden intercourse. Eros and sexuality in the history of Western esotericism

“Hidden Intercourse is a book that turns people’s heads around, so that they can never think of sex the same way again.”
Joscelyn Godwin

“A collection of essays addressing a doubly fascinating topic, namely, the intersection of the erotic and the esoteric in western culture from ancient Greece to contemporary California–where west meets east, as the American counterculture supplements its already eclectic garb with the mantle of a refashioned Asian Tantra.”
Virginia Burrus

“A thoughtful, well-written, and extremely wide-ranging text that examines the crucial role of eros/sexuality in the western esoteric tradition.”
G. William Barnard

From rumors about gnostic orgies in antiquity to the explicit erotic symbolism of alchemical texts, from the subtly coded eroticism of medieval kabbalah to the sexual magic practiced by contemporary occultists and countercultural translations of Asian Tantra, the history of Western esotericism is rich in references to the domains of eros and sexuality. This volume, which brings together an impressive array of top-level specialists, is the first to analyze the eroticism of the esoteric without sensationalism or cheap generalizations, but on the basis of expert scholarship and attention to textual and historical detail. While there are few domains where the imagination may so easily run wild, the various contributions seek to distinguish fact from fiction-only to find that historical realities are sometimes even stranger than the fantasies. In doing so, they reveal the outlines of a largely unknown history spanning more than twenty centuries.

Mooji – Writing on water

‘Mooji is unique by his enormous intention that absolutely knows you can fully receive his pointing. And he has an immense sincerity, which is completely infused within his words. It is this overpowering sincerity which infects the reader, and moves him or her to watch as his words strike the human instrument and merge it into its essence.’

– Richard Miller, Presenter of Never Not Here, Chicago TV

‘Writing on Water embodies the heart of Mooji’s timeless pointing and presence. In some sayings, his words invoke the compassion of the Buddha; in others, we feel the selfless love of Jesus, or the humility of St. Francis. Always, we are thrown back into the Self-revealing wisdom of Sri Ramana Maharshi and Sri Poonjaji. Mooji’s words, like himself, are pure Grace.’

– Christopher Claudius, Channel 7 Media

‘Writing on Water is a collection of sayings and poems, interspersed with Zen-style drawings. Step within and enter the realm of Unknowing… open the book at random, dip into its richness, and on every page, you will encounter a doorway to wisdom and Truth.’

– Batya Swift Yasgur, author of Behind the Burqa and America: A Freedom Country

Ravalec, Mallendi en Paicheler – Iboga. The visionary root of African shamanism

Iboga, spiritual ally of African shamans since antiquity, yields ibogaine, a powerful psychotropic substance. It is used mainly in Gabon and Cameroon in a secret, initiatory tradition called bwiti-nganza, in which physical and psychological illnesses can be rooted out and cured. Intense psychological conditioning that includes the rites of confession, contacting and honoring one’s ancestors, and construction of an in-depth psychological inventory are all part of the initiate’s encounter with this sacred root.

Like many visionary and initiatory plants, iboga is a key that gives access to other modes of being and consciousness. Despite its suppression by the FDA since the 1960s, and more recently by the DEA, researchers have shown that ibogaine provides a powerful adjunct to psychology due to its miraculous ability to break addictions–most notably to heroin. To the followers of the Bwiti religion, ibogaine is the indispensable means by which humans can truly communicate with the deepest reaches of their soul and with the spirits of their ancestors. This book details the traditions and techniques of iboga’s use by African shamans and the essential role it occupies in that community in order both to preserve this knowledge and to show how ibogaine may have an important role to play in our
modern world.

Karr en Wood – The practice of contemplative photography. Seeing the world with fresh eyes.

“This is not your usual ‘how to be a better photographer’ book. It takes you into deeper water. It requires investigation and commitment to areas new to you. Among other things, you will think about perception in new ways. If you read this book with care, and without skepticism, it will radically expand your thinking, seeing, and photography.”—Jay Maisel

“Contemplative photography is about seizing the present moment as one would delicately hold a poppy without shedding its petals. It is about nonattachment; one has nothing to lose and nothing to gain, but everything to offer to the eyes of the viewer. In this beautiful and inspiring book, Andy Karr and Michael Wood introduce us to an approach to photography that nourishes our spiritual life rather than distracting us from it.”—Matthieu Ricard, photographer and author of Happiness: A Guide to Developing Life’s Most Important Skill

This book teaches us how to fully connect with the visual richness of our ordinary, daily experience. Photography is not just a mechanical process; it requires learning how to see. As you develop your ability to look and see, you will open, more and more, to the natural inspiration of your surroundings.

Filled with practical exercises; photographic assignments; and techniques for working with texture, light, and color; this book offers a system of training that draws on both Buddhist mindfulness practice and the insights of master photographers such as Alfred Stieglitz, Edward Weston, and Henri Cartier-Bresson

Ram Dass, Be love now

In BE LOVE NOW Ram Dass deepens his journey of awakening and reflects on the great saints of India as living examples of oneness and universal love.

“This book is about human beings whose vision is clear, who live fully in this moment, are mirrors for others, and are themselves pure statements of the highest human evolution. We might call them realized beings. In truth, they are a gateway to that inner reflection of our Self in the heart. This is a book of forms about the formless, a form designed to liberate you from form. If you think of yourself as someone on a path then perhaps this book will help provide some directions or some tools for your search. As you seek the indescribable perhaps some of these descriptions will resonate for you. Our hope is that it may help you find your way into your own heart.”
